Everything a photographer does is entwined with TIME. Whether it is as basic as exposure time or as complex as attempting to describe time passing. The title allows for many interpretations.
Take a look at the photographs by Jodie Hulden. Time and time again she returns to Mission Trails Park in San Diego and finds new ways of seeing it. Robert Younger returns time and again to photograph graceful sand dunes of desert and coast. Tom Vancisin photographs Death Valley often and his work reflects a unique way of seeing the area’s features that evolve over time.
Some of our artists play with the flow of time. Brandy Sebastian’s photographs are elegant experiments with long exposures and camera movements, Grant Brittain captures distinctive personalities in singular moments. Keiko Yamasaki shows us time immemorial with her images of nebulas.
Robert Barry documents man’s mark-making over time in our cities. Andrea Matthies also documents man’s imprint in her photographs from Washington state. Terry Allen and Barbara Beck show Nature etched into earth over millennia, and John Clark’s botanicals show the literal unfolding of time. Time and again we are called to a cause. You can see that with David Marsh’s photographs from a recent protest.
Our Collective members are committed photographers with a passion for image-making. I continually delight in looking at their work and I hope you too take the same delight in viewing our exhibition.
