Artist Statement:
Baker Lake Recession
At the foot of Mt. Baker in Washington state lies Baker Lake. When the lake’s waters recede, the skeletons of once-towering trees emerge… remnants of a forest drowned and exposed again with each seasonal shift. The returning stumps bear witness to what once was, surfacing in cycles, over and over again.
Brinnon, Washington
On the road that runs along the inside of the Olympic Peninsula, heading south through Brinnon.
Hama Hama Oysters
On the edge of Hood Canal, Hama Hama Oysters has left its mark, shells upon shells that are remnants of harvests past. The grounded vessel and the mounds of discarded oyster shells speak to the cycle of humanity, or maybe capitalism, accumulated, spent, and still persisting.
