KRIS HODSON MOORE & MORGAN DELUNA: W O M A N / S E L F
March 2nd - April 6th, 2019
PRESS RELEASE: These two photographers have explored concepts of body, identity, beauty and perception of the feminine.
In #instagrids DeLuna transforms herself as a way to try to understand the allure that drives insta-personalities on social media; in Extrospection, an ongoing series, DeLuna is documenting the topographic quality of her body over time. It is important that she does not retouch the photographs, leaving scars, freckles and imperfections just as they are.
Moore uses herself to investigate our troubling relationship with plastic using diptychs in her series Fly AwayBreath. In Hush, pinhole self portraits refer to the strength and resilience found in solitude. Soul of a Woman is a result of Moore’s experience of being an older woman in a male dominated/youth-oriented society.
