The Collective: Winter's Light

December 14th 2019 - January 4th, 2020
Opening Reception December 14th, 2019 5:30pm-8:30pm

Director’s Exhibition Statement:

Winter is a special time for photographers…crisp long shadows created by a low winter sun, soft light on a cool overcast day, light sparkling on snow draping mountain meadows and bare trees. But Winter’s Light can also trigger emotions. The dark comes early and with it ruminations on the past, visions of cheerless and broken landscapes, detritus of lives lost to dark secrets or promises made unfulfilled. Winter can be the window to hope or to gloom.

Our Collective of Photographers considered Winter’s Light and have made poetic as well as austere images that speak to the season. Their interpretations, as always, are varied and thoughtful.

Our Collective of Photographers is:
Terry Allen, Barbara Beck, Grant Brittain, Stephen Davis,
Carla De Dominicis, Deb Hellman, Bob and Susan Hill,
Jodie Hulden, Emily Kim, Andrea Matthies, Brandy Sebastian,
Tom Vancisin and Keiko Yamasaki
