"In Plain View"
May 25th - June 29th

THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S EYE GALLERY WILL HOST TWO SAN DIEGO ARTISTS IN AN EXHIBIT, IN PLAIN VIEW, PHOTOGRAPHS BY JUDITH PRESTON AND JACQUELINE RAMIREZ

These two women each work creating images of simple scenes available to anyone walking past but rarely recognized as important. Yet, these photographs hold our attention by the very fact of their ordinary-ness. Preston, working with color film and a Holga plastic camera, is fascinated that the “little piece of plastic between the viewer and the scene can create an altered reality –virtual memories that seem dreamlike, nostalgic and wistful.” Ramirez’ color photographs from her series, Real Property, originate with her awareness of cultural artifacts found within the suburban environment…both personal and public. In her statement she says, “ Notions of property, both real and implied evoke an incongruent psychology of place, as barriers and portals - both real and symbolic - are made visible.”
