THE PHOTOGRAPHER’S EYE GALLERY is pleased to announce our latest exhibition,
From Joshua Tree to the Salton Sea, the Lost Corner of California Photographs by
TED ORLAND. Ted’s distinguished career as a photographer, writer and educator reaches back to his beginnings as an assistant and printer for Ansel Adams. Since then he has taught photography at Stanford University, led workshops across the country and has written several books important to artists and photographers all over the world. Orland’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the US and globally and is represented by the Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite National Park.

The photographs in this show brings together for the first time a series of images from the Salton Sea area and the desert beyond. Orland’s penchant for infusing his work with metaphoric or historic overtones, his skewed use of color or use of infrared, imbues his work with a sensibility that is singularly his own. Add to that a playful, if not irreverent attitude, and Orland’s work engages completely.
