Artist Bio: Marie Tartar is an avid traveler, diver, hiker and photographer. She is one half of the photographic partnership of San Diego-based Aperture Photo Arts (APA). Along with her husband, Steve Eilenberg, she explores the world photographically, on foot and by fin, specializing in underwater, landscape, wildlife and travel photography, with the aim to increase appreciation and conservation of the natural world. Her images have been exhibited at the La Jolla Athenaeum, San Diego Natural History Museum, Oceanside Museum of Art, Birch Aquarium and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. In 2020, her underwater imagery was showcased in a 2 woman show called The Tonic of Wildness at the Photographer’s Eye Gallery in Escondido, alongside British photographer Trai Anfield. Inner Space, a collection of recent underwater images by Marie and Steve, will be exhibited at the Photographer’s Eye this fall, opening October 26, 2024 and continuing until November 30, 2024.
