PROCESS
This work combines a tea-toned cyanotype on fabric with hand-stitching and the attachment of vintage family photographs. The stitched red thread maps connections across generations, linking family history to the image of a young family gathered around an old tree. The piece reflects on ancestral memory and the continuity of roots over time.
STATEMENT
My work explores the threads of memory, ancestry, and identity. Through the blend of cyanotype, historical photographs, stitched lines, and layered imagery, I create a visual lineage that connects past to present. The red thread moves like lifeblood through generations, tying together fragments of history that might otherwise remain scattered or forgotten
The piece functions as both a family tree and a memory map—honoring those who came before while acknowledging the fragility of remembrance. Found photographs, handwritten notes, and textile elements invite the viewer to reflect on the ways personal histories shape collective narratives
At its core, this work is about connection: between family, place, and time. It is an embrace of origins, while also a meditation on the stories we carry forward and the silences we leave behind.
