Artist Statement:
Bob has been photographing since the mid-'60s. Artistically his work has included dramatic landscapes and architecture as well more abstract and metaphorical images. In the last decade Bob has discovered the value of spending time in a place, with a subject; of developing an understanding of a place or objects and their relationship to him and the world. This has led him to a realization that there is an interconnectedness between the photographer, the subject, and the photograph; that there is an interdependence of all things in the world. The photographer must develop an emotional understanding of his or her relationship to the larger world and to the subject of the photograph; and must wait on that understanding. Trees, rocks, hills, lakes, oceans and old places have something to say; but they do not talk fast.
