Photographed on the bike paths in the Bakkum Duinen, Netherlands. My mother rode these same paths in the 1950s when her family lived nearby. I returned decades later and rode through the dunes again with my cousin, whose father lived with my mother's family at the time. Being back there, it felt like I could still hear echoes of my mom and our family, embedded in that landscape.

Bakkum Duinen Return I
Photographed on the bike paths in the Bakkum Duinen, Netherlands. My mother rode these same paths in the 1950s when her family lived nearby. I returned decades later and rode through the dunes again with my cousin, whose father lived with my mother's family at the time. Being back there, it felt like I could still hear echoes of my mom and our family, embedded in that landscape.

Photographed along the same path in the Bakkum Duinen, Netherlands, looking into the woods beside the trail. The cold air on my fingers and face as I rode there reminded me of the stories my mom used to tell about riding her bike to school through the snow.
Joshua Tree Echo I
Photographed in Joshua Tree during a personal pilgrimage with the wife and close friends of our friend Jarrod, who passed away in 2019. Jarrod and his wife played music together, much like my husband and I do, and we felt a strong kinship with them. He loved playing music out here in the open air, and the trip was made on the anniversary of his passing.
