Artist Statement:
My art is about the connection between abstraction and realism. My abstract work has elements of symbolism, while my realistic work has an abstract nature to it. I want viewers to interpret the art for themselves while connecting it to their own lives. I hope every time that they look at my work they see something new in it. I usually select ideas that I am fascinated by and then try to give the viewer that same feeling
Artist Bio:
I am an experimental artist from Rochester NY focusing in printmaking, ceramics and photography. After discovering my love of art in my early 20’s, I graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Nazareth College, concentrating in ceramics and printmaking. At Nazareth I discovered my love for the world of abstract art and the many unique processes the art world offers. I am a member of the Print Club of Rochester and have appeared in numerous exhibitions.
Photo Process:
My print is based on the chemi-lumen process combining cyanotype and lumen printing.
The print is a standard lumen print, exposing photo paper with objects on the paper to get a print. When fixed lumen prints lose a lot of their color becoming a brown color on regular paper. With the cyanotype chemicals painted on the print and exposed it gives a great blue added to the print. When fixed this leads to a blue print if you choose to put cyanotype material on the whole page or blue and brown if you choose to paint parts of the cyanotype material which is what I chose to do. There is a lot of experimenting that can lead to some great effects.
