ARTIST STATEMENT:
Though usually referencing a physical space, people can also find themselves inside or outside of cultures, religions, political parties, or organizations. People can find themselves looking into places they wish they could be; or looking out on a wider world they fear.
It’s difficult in three photographs to convey the breadth of joy, peace, and fear that being on one side or the other can invoke. But let yourself enter the worlds of each picture and hold that feeling for a while.
