ARTIST STATEMENT:
My latest body of work deals with the struggles of being quarantined during the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with a large majority of people, I was left without a job. And with no job and all of the parks and beaches closed, this meant that most of my time was spent within my home. This led to me feeling trapped; both physically and mentally. In an effort to break away from this kind of thinking, I began looking for the beauty within my home. I shot this series with a Polaroid because it was an easy medium to work with from home and because Polaroids have a unique way of capturing light. Throughout this process, I began to see my home as a haven rather than a cell, as a place where peace and freedom come from within.
