Artist Statement:
“I have always loved the process of photography whether it is in the darkroom or in a modified space similar to a darkroom environment. Monochrome is my preference especially when it reveals the spectrum of tones from rich black to pure white. The unexpected often results when working in a variety of mediums from infrared, platinum, tumeric prints, anthotypes and chorophyll prints or gold toned images. The cyanotype images presented here are printed on coffee filters. They represent images I took in the Midwest when doing a project on Farmland. My hope is that the viewer sees the beauty in the finished image.”
Process:
First I spray the coffee filters with a 3m product called “Sealer.” This prevents the filter from absorbing an unnecessary amount of cyanotype chemicals. Once dry, I coat the filters with cyanotype and process them in the typical cyanotype manner.
