Sporting trendy jeans that she wore on the plane, a Colombian girl shuffles towards a U.S. Border Patrol van in Jacumba, California on February 8, 2024. On the advice of their Mexican smuggler everyone in her group purchased a new hooded jacket at the Tijuana airport before being jammed into an SUV and driven to a heavily used gap in border fence that’s just over the distant hill. They’ll be housed for the night in a San Diego area shelter where they intend to make a plea for amnesty and probably released pending a formal court hearing sometime in the future.
